Low Self-Discharge Rate: A relatively low self-discharge rate allows deep-cycle batteries to maintain high charge levels during long-term storage or idle periods. This means that even when the battery is not being used, it is able to maintain some electrical energy storage.

10 Hour Rate Battery:

 

10-Hour Rate is a standard used to evaluate battery capacity. It indicates the continuous discharge current that the battery can provide within 10 hours, usually expressed in ampere (A).

For example, if a battery has a 10-hour rate of 100Ah, it means that the battery can supply 100 amps when discharged continuously for 10 hours. According to this standard, the current output at other discharge times can be deduced.

The 10-hour rate is a common standard used to compare the capacities of different batteries. Usually, the actual capacity of a battery is affected by temperature, discharge rate and other conditions, so the exact capacity may vary in actual use.

In addition to the 10-hour rate, there are other evaluation standards under discharge time, such as 20-hour rate, 5-hour rate, etc., which can be used to more accurately evaluate the battery capacity under different conditions. The difference between GEL battery (Gel Battery) and AGM battery (Absorbent Glass Mat Battery):
 
Construction: GEL batteries use silica gel (Gel) as the electrolyte, solidify the electrolyte into a gel, and inject it between the separator and the plate in the battery. AGM batteries use glass fiber battery separators (Absorbent Glass Mat) to absorb and retain electrolyte, and the gap between these separators and electrodes is filled with electrolyte.
 
Solidification of electrolyte: The electrolyte of GEL battery is gel-like, with good stability and anti-leakage performance, even if the battery case is damaged, it will not leak. The electrolyte of the AGM battery is adsorbed on the glass fiber separator, has a higher electrolyte content, and is relatively more prone to leakage.
 
Life and cycle characteristics: Since the electrolyte of the GEL battery is gel-like, its electrolyte fluidity is relatively poor during the cycle, so it has strong resistance to overcharge and over-discharge, and is more suitable for long-term deep cycles. AGM batteries have better electrolyte fluidity during cycling, and respond faster to transient high current discharge and charge, so they are more suitable for high discharge demand and start-up applications.
 
Charging characteristics: GEL batteries have strict requirements on charging voltage and charging current, and require specific charging control. AGM batteries are relatively more tolerant to charging conditions and can accept higher charging currents.
 
Cost: In general, GEL batteries are expensive to manufacture because of the need for gelled electrolytes in the manufacturing process, while AGM batteries are relatively inexpensive to manufacture.
